The Power of Prayer – a Lesson from Job

Do you need a lesson about the power of prayer? The life of the Bible character Job is a great encouragement to seek God and pour out our souls to Him.

Here is a sneak peek of my guest post at Devotableapp.com about the power of prayer and the lesson from Job.

The Power of Prayer – a Lesson from Job

„Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God. You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.“ (Job 22:26-27)

Why pray? Why seek God and pour out our souls to Him? Because of the power of prayer. Because God will surely hear; he will surely respond. God will certainly appear and give us an answer. Maybe not the answer we expect, but the one we need most.

Prayer Opens the Door to Experience the Presence of God

Job is a great example of the power of prayer. Job was a righteous man and his faith was severely put to test. I love his speeches and monologues, heartfelt and authentic, coming unfiltered from the deep recesses of his heart. Powerful prayers. In the pain of his suffering, he was lifting his whole being to God knowing that no answer would satisfy him besides an answer from the Source. No theology, no explanation, but the experience of the living presence of God.

  1. God answers little prayers all the time n my life—and he is faithful in the big things, as well. For example, he brought our family through a catastrophic cancer diagnosis (my husband is in full remission from a type of cancer that has a 3 % survival rate). He’s brought us through mental illness—our adolescent daughter developed bipolar disorder her second year of college and we almost lost her during the process of trying to get a diagnosis. God is good.

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging comment! These are great testimonies of the faithfulness and power of God in your family!
