We all struggle with accepting our lot in life. Sometimes we feel that our share of pain, disappointments, and setbacks is just too much to endure.
Here is a sneak peek of my guest post at Devotableapp.com about three reasons to accept our lot in life.
Accepting Our Lot in Life
It seems life is getting harder and no one is immune to hardships, disappointments, and losses. A global pandemic, social distancing, isolation, anxiety, and uncertain future cast dark shadows in our lives.
When I struggle to accept more and more difficulties and anguish coming my way, I remind myself of the words of Psalm 16: “Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” –Psalm 16:5-6

A Secure Lot and Boundaries in Pleasant Places
Yes, each one of us has a secure lot and boundaries in pleasant places and a delightful inheritance. These places may involve heartaches, loss, betrayal, and things we want to avoid. But they also include a portion of the presence and love of God, a gladness, peace, and joy only He could give. It is exactly amidst our struggles that we experience our share of God’s abundant grace, provision, and power.
Our lot is secure when we make God our portion. This means to acknowledge that that doesn’t matter what happens to us, He alone is able to sustain and satisfy our souls. It is the realization that He is the source of all our blessings, and our living Hope not only for this life but for eternity. Because God is unshakable and a safe place for us, our lot is secure too. We can rest and be at peace.

I read these wise words for the second time today, friend. Thank you so much for the way you share your wisdom and experience with the world. This richly blessed me today!
Thanks so much for your encouraging words, my dear friend!
This is a great perspective! It reminds me of Romans 8:28. God works all things work together — the good, the bad, the ugly–for our good. What a comforting thought!
Thanks, Sharla! I love Romans 8:28! It helps me to trust God in trying times when I don’t understand and feel discouraged.
I love the scripture you used out of Psalms. Great reminder.
Thank you, Leeanne! Psalm 16 is one of my favourite too.
A welcome reminder!!
Thank You
Thanks for your feedback, Rene!
Beautiful post! God will find a way and HE will never fail us. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks, Mae! Yes, we can always trust Him even when the outcomes are different than we want.
I love those verses from Psalms!
A beautiful reminder and encouragement!
Thanks, Sarah! This is also one of my favorite psalms, I have it as a screensaver on my mobile.
Enjoyed your devotion this morning. Thanks!
Thanks, Gina! I am glad that you enjoyed it.
A beautiful and timely devotion on God’s sovereignty. It does call for us as believers to trust in His will and timing. This can be very difficult given the pandemic and political climate. This devotional is comforting given the psalms that David wrote for us.
Thanks, Adam! You are right – as believers, we are called to trust God more and more. This can be very challenging in these difficult and uncertain times, but also very rewarding.
