The World Needs Your Story

Friend, do you know that the world needs your story?

Here is a sneak peek of my guest post for COMPEL Training Blog about why the world needs you and your story as a Christian writer and creative.

The World Needs Your Story

How do you feel as a writer when God guides you to share your story? Perhaps your first reaction is one of insecurity and comparison. Perhaps you doubt the world needs you and your story.

Do thoughts like these cross your mind:

I am not the only one who has gone through that

This story has been already told

or do I have anything new to say?

The first time when God gently nudged me to share something more than my usual daily experiences in my blog posts, I was very reluctant. He nudged me to write about my infertility and marriage problems in a memoir. I didn’t know anything about how to write a memoir, and my story of battling infertility for many years was too painful and too common, or so I thought.

But God remained persistent, and I obeyed. It was a huge learning curve. I needed to learn not only how to write scenes, dialogue and structure a memoir but, most importantly, to define what message I want to convey.

Having a Story Means Having a Message

Here are 4 truths I learned in the process that will encourage you to share your story too.

Having a story means having a message.

God has already ordained every day of our lives and has foreseen our experiences, struggles, wins, and valuable lessons to learn. He wants to use us as vessels to convey His message of love, grace, and restoration, using our unique voices and places in the community.

You and your story are a necessary and indispensable part of His grand plan because “you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27).
